The Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber is vital to the safety of divers in California. We support the chamber through the development of videos and donations to Chamber Day.
Author Steven M. Barsky has been a volunteer crew member and donates many days of his time to the chamber each year.
We support the Divers Alert Network as a corporate sponsor and through donations to their Silent Auction.
The Historical Diving Society USA (HDS USA) prides itself on the accurate investigating and recording of diving history. These high standards have attracted the support of the world's leading divers, many of whom sit on the HDS USA Advisory Board.
We support the HDS USA by assisting with the production of their magazine, Historical Diver, and through providing photographs for them as well. Both Steve and Kristine Barsky have served on the Board of Directors of this organization.
Ships to Reefs International is the web site of a coalition of coastal state artificial reefing agencies and nongovernmental organizations and non-profits. Our goal is to create artificial reefs off the entire U.S. coastline and in Hawaii. We have united in an attempt to get a pipeline of decommissioned Navy and Maritime Administration (MARAD) vessels, using a national standard in all states.
California Ships to Reefs was originally a committee of San Diego Oceans Foundation (SDOF). In 2000, SDOF reefed HMCS Yukon, a former Canadian Navy frigate. Subsequent studies of Yukon have demonstrated that it is not only a premier dive site, but an economic gold mine for the San Diego area.
A wonderful book project to inform children about the fascinating marine life found in the world's oceans. Developed by Naoko Funakoshi of Japan.
